UEG's retailing history dates back to mid-60s with the import and delivery of bakery items to shops, homes and hotels in Abu Dhabi. Since then UEG has been in investing in various catering and retail organization as minority stakeholders in the UAE and Egypt. In developing future strategy for retail, the Board of Directors have decided to create QSR & General Retail Division of the group as a separate 100% owned entity. Staff with experience of working for Yum Group (Pizza Hut, KFC etc.), IKEA, and Hyper Retail have been hired to handle sales of top international brands whose acquisition is being actively pursued and finalized.
