UEG is developing a mixed-use project by the name of Alexander the Great Resort on a site area of approximately 418,000 m2 (with the potential to acquire more land to make the total land area approximately 630,000 m2) on the Mediterranean coast, east of Marsa Matrouh city in Egypt.
Real estate aspects of the Project will include the following:
450-room 4-star hotel;
Destination spa comprising a BUA of 3,275 m2;
150 residential villas and 300 residential chalets totaling 450 units;
Retail promenade comprising a BUA of 15,500 m2 and community retail centre comprising a BUA of 3,000 m2; Clubhouse for residents;  Equestrian centre featuring chariot races; . Service areas comprising a BUA of 5,000 m2;
Other features comprising water canals and lakes, circulation areas and green landscaped areas.
Currently the approval process is in final stages and negotiations are in place for franchise partner for branded hotel and beach villas. The construction work on the resort is expected to commence within a year.

UEG's retailing history dates back to mid-60s with the import and delivery of bakery items to shops, homes and hotels in Abu Dhabi. Since then UEG has been in investing in various catering and retail organization as minority stakeholders in the UAE and Egypt. In developing future strategy for retail, the Board of Directors have decided to create QSR & General Retail Division of the group as a separate 100% owned entity. Staff with experience of working for Yum Group (Pizza Hut, KFC etc.), IKEA, and Hyper Retail have been hired to handle sales of top international brands whose acquisition is being actively pursued and finalized.
